In my studies and work in education and storytelling, I've been thankful for opportunities to work in both rural and urban settings across a wide spectrum of participant groups to inform and inspire. These have been in contexts local to Southern California, as well as national and international.

Board Involvements
- Board of Directors: Fairtree (2020-present)
- Fairtree does reforestation differently: we pay people to plant and manage trees in their own communities. Fairtree works across Subsaharan Africa. Mobile tree tracking with Greenstand technology, mobile payments to tree growers and community-based management, and out-of-the-box reforestation techniques are how Fairtree accomplishes its unique work.
- Supporting Member: Tipey Joa Native Warriors (2022-present)
- Tipey Joa’s mission is to promote health, cultural preservation, economic and social justice in indigenous communities. Tipey Joa serves the Yuman (Kumiai, Pa Ipai, Kiliwa, Cucapa and Cochimi) communities of Baja California, Mexico and Southern California.
- Board of Directors: Slow Food URBAN San Diego, Ark of Taste Chair (2018-19)
- Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us. The Ark of Taste is a living catalog of delicious and distinctive foods facing extinction, and is a tool for farmers, ranchers, fishers, chefs, grocers, educators and consumers to seek out and celebrate our country’s diverse biological, cultural and culinary heritage.
